Week Two-actually doing something about it

Before writing this post i was debating if i should stop cussing (Steve made a good point) or stop my procrastination. Since i procrastinate with EVERYTHING i decided to focus on not procrastinating with school work, since i would benefit from it more (I'll just have to watch my mouth more often). Part of not procrastinating is not being easily distracted, so the changes i make might include avoiding distracting situations.

I really want to stop procrastinating because it causes stress, which leads to sleepless nights, which leads to exhaustion in the morning, leading to lower test scores, not all the time tho ;) etc....we all know the price we pay with procrastination. I feel like if i stop procrastinating, i would have more time to do things, instead of doing everything last minute.

Here's my somewhat thought out plan to change:
First, i'll start by doing my homework after i come home from class, instead of putting it off till midnight
Second-i'll try to finish all of my homework the night before, instead of doing it the morning of class
Third-i'll try to do my homework one day in advance, completing at least half of my work

In regards to not distracting myself, i'll do my homework without my computer on (unless i need it) since i'm easily distracted by aim, youtube, etc.

Suggestions and ideas on more of a structure would be great!

  1. Your dogs are cute!! moly the mom says get your homework done. Being ahead of the game is the way to go, less stress and worries. You seem to be doing well with the way you are doing things, I mean you are in honors right? You have time now to do things; you just do not want to do them. Organize your time and priorities. Have you ever taken Gary Long's math 96 class? It is not a math class but it sure is awesome! Teaches you how to study better and retain more from the classes. I highly suggest it to anyone. If you ever want to study, especially for the 2nd exam next week, let me know! Ohh I love your fish here too, I need to get those on mine I think.

  2. Hi Cristin! You seem to have a great plan ahead of you on what to do to avoid procrastinating. I feel you! I mean its so hard not to procrastinate sometimes because often times when someone gets home from school that person tends to get really tired and would just want to relax. If you can relate to this, I suggest that you take like a 15 min break when you get home, maybe even nap. This way you can get a little pause from the hectic load of schoolwork, get a little energy boost and then continue to become productive. Hope this helps! goodluck! ;)

  3. Hola Cristin,

don't worry! we're all in the same boat! I do pretty much the same things to avoid studying and getting done with school projects... But it's good that your targeting a behavior that slows all college students down. I wish you the best, and stay strong!! by the way, nice music!!

Ah, the procrastination problem. I've been there, done that. Procrastination certainly does cause stress because we leave things until the absolute last minute (but sometimes I find that it helps for tests.. for example you need to review some last minute things before the test, just sleep earlier and wake up early to review over everything!) However since you are talking about homework, it would be wise to finish early. Avoiding internet is the best advice you can get because it's so easy to get distracted! I know for me I go on facebook 24/7, sometimes it's best to go downstairs away from the computer and seclude yourself from all technology! haha good luck :)
